Memory is an interesting movie that doesn’t have as much to say about its subject matter as it first seems.

Anything can work in this genre if the filmmakers can figure out how to inject tension into it. Here, they never did.

There is a detachment to the protagonist that extends to Ferrari as a whole.

It is a compelling story, very well-directed, with excellent performances and a clever, almost fairytale-like, design.

There isn’t a shred of creativity, originality or filmmaking skill in its two hours.

The result is a good movie that doesn’t have enough feeling (besides sadness) to be great.

Instead of being the lazy fan-service I feared, it is a legitimately entertaining family-friendly adventure.

A clever, thoughtful, funny, satirical comedy.

The sum of its parts may be greater than its whole. Still, this is an enjoyably low-key genre entry that values character over twists.

It is touching, thought-provoking and, if this does prove to be the final cinematic treat we receive from this legend, a worthy goodbye.
