A compelling, well-made, movie, with an effective setting and a strong performance from Julia Garner.

I liked it, yet it feels like it could’ve been a lot more.

It works okay as a fast-paced retelling of a captivating series of events. It just doesn’t really have anything to say about them.

It is pretty uneven, with a handful of strong bright spots and a bunch of derivative creature scenes that drag it down.

Branagh tries something truly different and it makes for the most compelling of his Poirot adaptations.

There are so few ideas in this screenplay. Within twenty minutes, I could tell there was only enough substance for a 2½ minute trailer.
