Don’t be put off by the subject matter. This is skillful entertainment.

The charm of the performers, as well as some amusingly straightforward writing, carries this past its clichés for a while.

The movie never forces itself, examining conflicts that are internal and have no easy solutions.

It is entertaining. Yet the movie practically disappears as it unfolds.

It is worth seeing this just to get a look at a fantastic talent tackling a difficult role with sensitivity and passion.

Is it any good? My answer is: it’s complicated.

Only a director of Francis Ford Coppola’s considerable ability could make something this disjointed and ridiculous so dull.

While it certainly didn’t reignite my childhood passion for this property, it is a reasonably enjoyable watch.
