It works okay as a fast-paced retelling of a captivating series of events. It just doesn’t really have anything to say about them.

It is truly weird and is also funny more often than not.

There are so few ideas in this screenplay. Within twenty minutes, I could tell there was only enough substance for a 2½ minute trailer.

It may not be a particularly fresh take on the genre, but it is a generally amusing one.

This is a clear attempt at a new franchise and is fun enough that it just might succeed.

Kudos to everyone involved for taking a big swing on this and connecting impressively.

While Joy Ride is formulaic, in the end, what actually matters is if it’s funny. It is. Very.

Asteroid City, hits all the notes a Wes Anderson aficionado would hope for, and then a few extra on top of that.

It is consistently enjoyable, smart in its ridiculousness and I laughed a lot.

It is certainly not a terrible experience. Still, it is hard to recommend it when Pixar has done so much better, so many times.
